Why does a roof vent clog faster than a side-wall run?

Gravity works against you. Lint rides up the vertical section, then drifts back down when the blower stops. In a second-floor laundry room, the duct often crosses cold attic space before it turns up to the cap. Air cools there. Moisture condenses. Damp lint sticks to the duct wall instead of blowing clear. That is why a roof-vented run over 25 ft needs attention every 6–9 months, not yearly.
